PICOGRAM
A distraction-free version of Instagram for Android that keeps the parts I use to stay in touch: direct messages, Notes, and my profile.
I built it by studying Instagram's Android APK and developing a ReVanced patch bundle. The patch opens the app directly to messages, reduces the bottom navigation to Messages and Profile, and blocks requests for the main feed and discovery surfaces.
Reels shared in messages can still be watched and interacted with, but swiping to the next reel is disabled.
The work involved reverse engineering Android bytecode, adapting and testing patches against a specific Instagram version, and building both a standalone APK and an importable ReVanced bundle. I tested the native app and patching process on a Pixel 7.
